Emission Reduction
Conventional Emission
Direct emission comes from mining equipment used by the Company. Emission control is carried out by monitoring emission quality periodically. We conduct emission tests on heavy equipment, haulers, and supporting facilities such as buses, generators and pumps annually. Emission quality testing is carried out by an accredited environmental testing laboratory. The emission test result serves as a reference for our mining equipment maintenance program.
Water and Wastewater
Material and Waste
Important materials in mining operations are materials related to equipment maintenance activities and explosives. Particularly for explosives, the Company exercises a strict control in accordance with the provisions of the Indonesian National Police and mining regulations. BUMA Rebuild Center is a BUMA division located in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, to support the maintenance of BUMA’s equipment to be ready for reuse. As a mining service provider, the timely availability of spareparts in the right quantity is an important risk to be managed by the Company. One of the mitigation steps is through rebuilding and reconditioning certain spare parts to ensure their availability. The Company implements a recycling system for heavy equipment components that have reached their end of life by rebuilding and reconditioning.
Rebuild and recondition are carried out carefully according to certain standard and safety aspects of the equipment and its users. The approach is expected to reduce the use of new components, extend service life, prevent waste, and ultimately reduce costs. Rebuild and recondition is one of the alternative programs in circular economy where a material’s service life is extended rather than disposed as waste. Metal components that are ultimately unsuitable for reconditioning will be used as recycling raw materials
