- 04 June 2024

PT BISA Ruang Nuswantara (BIRU), a subsidiary of PT Delta Dunia Makmur Tbk (Delta Dunia Group, IDX: DOID), focused on education, vocational education, and circular economy, officially inaugurated a partnership for the Human Resource Skills Development Training with Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Hotel in Gunung Geulis, Bogor, West Java. This partnership reinforces BIRU's commitment to expanding its contribution to the growth of the hospitality industry ecosystem, particularly the hotel sector, while supporting the government's agenda in enhancing human resource competencies.

The partnership encompasses training, mentoring, consulting, and competency development to improve the quality of vocational high school (SMK) students in the hospitality sector. The students will undergo a series of focused and practical competency training in areas such as front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage services. Furthermore, BIRU will arrange for students from affiliated SMKs to undertake internships at the Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Hotel, offering them firsthand experience in a five-star hotel environment. The Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Hotel will actively participate in reviewing and validating the educational and training modules developed by BIRU.

According to the 2024 National Labor Force Survey by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), vocational high school graduates have the highest open unemployment rate at 8.62 percent. The hospitality sector offers significant career opportunities for vocational graduates, with the hotel industry's projected workforce demand set to reach 8.6 million between 2024 and 2025. The Bisa Ruang Vokasi (BRV) platform integrates vocational education with industry through a ‘link and match’ concept, aligning with the government's sustainable development goals to enhance human resource competencies while bridging the gap between the educational curriculum and the workforce skills in demand.

Kristiyanto Widiyawan, President Director of BIRU, stated, "The collaboration with Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Hotel broadens our partnership portfolio within the industry, focusing on developing training programs and enhancing vocational students' and graduates' competencies. As a renowned five-star hotel in Indonesia, the Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Hotel serves as an ideal partner for BIRU to refine our training modules to meet the highest standards in hospitality, in line with BIRU's expansion plans. We are hopeful that this partnership will significantly contribute to the advancement of the national hospitality sector and fulfill the industry’s demand for skilled, job-ready workers.”

Yogi Iswandi, Human Resources Manager at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Hotel, expressed his support for this collaboration, "We appreciate the collaboration with BIRU as the synergy between industry and education is vital for addressing the evolving challenges within the industrial landscape. This collaboration grants us direct access to industry-ready-workforce that meets the high standards of the Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Hotel. We believe this collaboration will open significant opportunities for students to develop practical skills and acquire a profound understanding of the hotel industry."

As a tangible manifestation of Delta Dunia Group's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, BIRU is expected to support the company's sustainable development agenda, particularly in enhancing globally competitive human resources through industry-based education and social entrepreneurship empowerment. Previously, BIRU established a similar partnership with Indah Palace Hotel in Solo, Central Java.

Since its inception in 2018, BRV has successfully supported the workforce needs in the energy and mining industries by training 2,113 students from 23 vocational high school across Indonesia. Since 2023, BIRU has expanded its focus to the tourism and hospitality sectors, aiming to reach 44,000 students, provide 2,500 scholarships, and enhance the competencies of 2,000 educators by 2027.
